Cornfield Posted November 25 Posted November 25 What are people using for neck straps when they don’t have a knee available?
Cornfield Posted November 27 Author Posted November 27 No one has answered my question. I found this for sale at Concertina Connection https://concertinaconnection.com/neck_cord.htm Are these good enough?

David Barnert Posted November 27 Posted November 27 Playing a reasonably-sized concertina while standing without neck straps is quite common. I do it all the time (I’m a musician for a team of Morris dancers).
Cornfield Posted November 27 Author Posted November 27 I am not anticipating standing, at a local event we sit on chairs,at high top tables. Using my knee would place the box below the tabletop.

Perhaps you could place a beanbag or a sponge or a folded washcloth on the table to rest one end of the instrument on, sort of a surrogate knee. 1

At all the sessions I go to the concertinas are on the players' knees, although usually folks push their chairs back to give themselves room to move the bellows. In my experience there is never any trouble hearing them (as my wife likes to say, "It's louder than you think". 😄). I have seen someone use a tall stool so their knee is above table height. A bit of unsolicited advice if you are playing in a large group/noisy session: because the sound comes out the ends, you won't hear it as well as those around you. If you situate yourself with your back in a corner, it can help you hear yourself in the din. Edited November 29 by Bill N 1
