I placed the order 9/23/24 but it has yet to arrive. I was told 3 months, so well over. Later I was told there was a chance of an earlier delivery - but as of 1/13/25. the shipment isn't even in the US. The store owner is equally frustrated by the wait. I watched the Youtube video showing the two Italian ladies that orchestrate their construction at Concertina Italia near Ancona, Marche, Italy. They bring in specialists for various steps, but do most of the work themselves using the original Stagi/Bastardi equipment. They seem sincere and the owner has posted on this site as to the quality they aspire to. There have been complaints that the spacing of the keys/buttons is not exactly as Hayden recommended. But, given the differences in size and layouts of concertinas in general, I wonder how critical that it. The Concertina Connection Wiki/Hayden Peacock hybrid, for example, uses a straight button array as opposed to the slanted array recommended by Hayden. Players seem to adapt to these variations. There is an interesting post on here of someone who owned both a Peacock 42 key concertina and a Stagi 46 who said to like the softer sound of the Stagi, and sold the higher quality Peacock. So, while I now realize that the Stagi, a hybrid with accordian reeds, is not comparable to the best true concertinas out there (Wheatstone 46, Beaumont 52, Concert Connection 46, or Jay Hayden Duet), none of those are available for all practical purposes. Used quality instruments are rare. Concert Connection, Jay, and Wheatstone (I believe) are not taking orders for their true Hayden Duet concertinas - and when Concert Connections resumes taking orders for its true non-hybrid concertina later this year, the wait will be 4 years! At 77, soon to be 78, I'll be happy to play the Stagi - and have a custom Peacock on order too - given the time needed to obtain these instruments. I will repost when I get some experience on both instruments. Hi! have you recently heard from them? I emailed them, Concertine Italia, in the last 2 weeks but I've got no response from them since I would like to order one too. Thank you

Thank you Kumatina, I cancelled my Stagi order - it was due to arrive this week (15 Feb 2025) - and ordered a Phoenix instead - which is also due next week. I am asking for a refund. The price I paid is lower than the current price, and I just posted for sale on this site the new case I bought for the Stagi. You can probably buy the Stagi I ordered (from the dealer) - and I am happy to sell you the case - if that works for you. Purchasing a Hayden Duet isn't easy! A dealer in Phiadelphia sells them for full retail price of about $1500. I paid $885 plus shipping - so the one I ordered is a pretty good deal - as is the case. Kumatina Posted February 21, 2025 Posted February 21, 2025 Hi Ed! actually I'm in Italy but they are not answering my emails that's why I was asking I would gladly buy one if they contact me. As for the case, unluckily having it shipped from the US to Italy would be so vexing and taxed is not worth the effort...sorry about this. thank you for the info still. Cheers! Aurelio
Ed Nardell Posted February 23, 2025 Posted February 23, 2025 It turns out that while Italy has long produced concertinas for the world, a by-product of the accordion industry, it is my understanding that concertinas are not popular in Italy - accordions much preferred. I was in Rome recently and thought I might find an instrument store featuring Stagi - no such luck. Ed
