Stefan E Posted November 24 Posted November 24 (edited) I'm giving up on getting these two concertinas restored and selling them now as is. Se pictures for details. Lachenal Ab/Eb 30-button Mahogany ends with brass reeds. In reasonable good shape. Each reed is sounding with a sweet tone and they are all pretty much in tune, although at around A=452 Hz tuning. Brass reeds with not much rust or corrosion on them. The bellows seems to be tight with no obvious leaks. Apart from tunig the reeds it could do with some restoration, especially pads, valves and bushing. I can’t tell whether the springs need to be replaced, but they seem to be working okey. The ends are worn and have a few small cracks on the surface, but doesn’t seem to be warped. Comes in a worn simple wooden case. Lachenal C/G 20-button Rosewood ends with steel reeds. In need of restoration. Steel reeds with some rust and corrosion. Not all of the reeds are sounding, but I can’t tell if it is because there is too much leakage from pads, valves and the bellows or if it the reeds themselves that need some attention. The reeds that are sounding are out of tune and varies in volume. The bellows has some leeks, especially noticeable from at two of the corners but probably from other spots as well. Asking price is 150€ for the 20-button and 350€ for the 30-button (plus shipping and any applicable VAT and customs fees). Edited November 24 by Stefan E
hielandman Posted November 25 Posted November 25 Hello, what is the serial number, and key/keys, of the 20 button concertina? Thanks, Don
Stefan E Posted November 25 Author Posted November 25 Hi Don, The serial number for the 20b is 92318 and the key is C/G. On the 30b the serial number is 71850. /Stefan
hielandman Posted Wednesday at 01:09 AM Posted Wednesday at 01:09 AM Thank you Stefan, I thought the 20 B might be in a lower Key due to the six fold bellows, but I have had two different Lachenal's with six fold bellows in C/G, so, I guess I have now seen a third one! Thanks again, take care, Don
nkgibbs Posted Wednesday at 10:22 PM Posted Wednesday at 10:22 PM Good evening Stefan, I wondered whether you sold these concertinas? Best regards, Neil
Jenny M Posted Thursday at 01:48 PM Posted Thursday at 01:48 PM Hello Stefan, If you still have either or both available, I’d be happy to purchase them. There are three of us studying repairs on concertinas here in Nova Scotia, Canada, where there’s plenty of people who play anglo but no one local who does repairs. The go to for people here used to be the Button Box but even that was crossing the American border, so not exactly close, and of course they’ve closed now… so you can see the need. One of us is a retiring violin luthier and piano technician, the second one, his son & my partner, has professional background in metal work and leather, and then I’m a concertina player. Thanks a mill. 😊 2
