Treble can be heard throughout & Tenor all through the 2nd time through, of the tune. For me, the pleasure is hearing how the Concertina actually blends with other instruments.

However, just for you, I've taken the other instruments out in this cut. ... Hope you can hear the Concertina now? 😄

Dear Dick,

Thank you for setting me straight. I only heard a little concertina in the first posting but hear it clearly when segregated. I wouldn't have thought there are two concertinas at work here although I suspect the tenor concertina is playing drones. The problem is with my hearing as I wear two strong hearing aids and can't hear my own voice without them. Again, thanks for going to the time and trouble of posting the segregated recording of just the concertina (or concertinas.)

I can't trust my hearing but I think I hear the bodhran in the second recording. Is this my imagination?

What is a trump as in musical instruments?

I'm playing a Baritone Treble & the Treble pitch plays the whole tune, while the Tenor pitch only plays the 2nd time through the tune ... the same melody but of course different finger patterns.

A Trump is what we call a Jews Harp in Scotland.

I'm afraid you'll have to blame Accordionist Norbert Pasquet for that. 😄

The French do play quite a few Mazurka Valses, but with most, the timing for the Waltz is much more pronounced than in this tune.

Hi Dick, Apologies for spouting off about timing, I certainly wasn't criticising you, it's just a personal Hobby horse

I blame the um-pa-pa chords and modern transcriptions that players learn and play from.

Why on earth don't players realise that neither  O'Carolan nor Purcell never played or even saw a  waltz, unless they were time-travellers of course.
