Folks of Cambridge NY perform The Public Works Orchestra's Instant Parade Band. After a one hour rehearsal, everyone's ready to go. This performance was a part of the great Hubbard Hall Reunion event and good bye party for long time director, Benjie White, July 6 2014. Camera: John Carlson.

35 years ago I was living in Cambridge NY and developed this collection of mostly homemade instruments to play my marching band music. Both the music and the instruments were designed to be played by my community orchestra, everyone invited regardless of age or musical experience. I went on to teach and perform this piece over 50 times in classrooms, summer camps, libraries and community centers for years. This particular performance back in 2014 was the last time we played it, though I still have all the instruments needed.

You will hear...

Anglo concertina and crow call, pitched bass and tenor and treble tube drums, bicycle squeeze horns, roto-toms, cymbals, samba drum, can chimes, tubular bells, frying pan, trombone and whatever else anyone wanted to bring into the mix.
