Bob Snope, formerly chief technician at The Button Box, now in Asheville, NC as The Squeezebox Garage and had to suspend operations recently after Hurricane Helene has sent this:

We just got our power and water restored yesterday. Still can't drink the water but things are definitely looking up. It's been quite a slog, and 21 of our neighbors lost their homes. We were higher up so the house sustained minimal damage, though several big trees came down... I recently contacted Bob at the Squeezebox Garage, to inquire about getting an evaluation and possible repair for a decades old but unused Cajun Accordion of Chinese manufacture. He seemed very knowledgeable and gave me an honest appraisal of its condition (junk), repairable but needing a new bellows and possibly some other items. It looked like it would cost a good bit more than the original cost, which I was expecting, so I abandoned it to his stash of possible repair parts. 

 

A few days later he contacted me to let me know he had figured out a shortcut to installing the new bellows, reducing the repair cost, but no pressure if I'd already bought a replacement. I picked it up yesterday and it is better than new. This man is honest, and a genuine craftsman. He had a shelf stacked high with vintage concertinas (for parts, he said) and a map of the US on the wall with dots on about two thirds of the states. When I asked about the map, he said it showed the location of his customers. I recommend him to anyone who needs a repair to a squeezebox.
