Ed Ebel Posted September 30, 2024 Posted September 30, 2024 Does anyone know what concertina Padraig Rynne is playing? Especially in his "Bye a While" album...I'm guessing a Wally Carroll or maybe a Wheatstone...I love that throaty/dark tone. Thanks

I have the Bye a While CD which also doesn't say but gives an email address of padraigrynne@hotmail.com - I don't know if it's still a good address for him. His somewhat later Notify CD says "Suttner and Carroll concertinas are used in this recording".
Ed Ebel Posted October 1, 2024 Author Posted October 1, 2024 Thanks Daniel. I also didn't see any info on the CD or website, but a Carroll passed through my hands for a few days four years ago and that could be what I'm hearing. I haven't had a chance to play a Suttner, but I understand they are top notch. Thanks again. Cheers
Chris Ghent Posted October 1, 2024 Posted October 1, 2024 Padraig would have a few concertinas but the last time I was with him (2018) his c/g was a metal ended Suttner, a superb example. 1
Bruce McCaskey Posted November 9, 2024 Posted November 9, 2024 I believe he used to own a 38-button Carroll in C/G but that was more than a decade ago. Carroll only made four or five of them and I owned one for a time. Somewhere I have a photo of Padraig with it but it wouldn’t be easy to find it. i’ve no idea if he still has it.
