Replacement spring for old Hohner

Recommended Posts

It's hard to tell what the exact dimensions are and what the pressure weight is on it, but maybe reach out to concertinaconnection.com

They sell spare springs, though mostly for their own models and who knows if they'll be strong enough for your instrument.

I managed to make my own spring using fine piano wire and a very primitive set up to bend into shape the wire itself.( Wooden block with tack in it to bend the wire) and fine pliers to cut and bend the wire.

I also kept the original wire as a guide for size.

If you only need one or two this is what I did..and my one replacement spring works fine ever since ( on my own Hohner branded Anglo ( from the 1990s). It can be fiddly getting spring correct tension and placing it back on again..but it does work.🌝

Willie, it would help to know where you are based, and the length of the spring, as they come is different sizes. I assume the spring in the photo only has the end missing which goes into the action board? If not you will need to confirm its length

Can you take a photo with the spring alongside a rule.

I have a number of spares and can supply a few alternatives to get you back up and running if you are in the UK. No charge!
