Randy Stein Posted September 11, 2024 Posted September 11, 2024 Recently my jazz trio, DC Ambiance, performed a private event with our new vocalist, Victoria Jones. It was wildly fun and we were exceptionally received. For the vocalist we had to make a lot of new arrangements in different key signatures than we're used to (sorry Anglo players, Eb, Fm, and yes, B major). Not too difficult on the EC but it did make modal chord changes a bit more challenging. All in all a great time. We have more upcoming gigs with her as well. 6

d.elliott Posted September 13, 2024 Posted September 13, 2024 we still want Audio, no miming allowed.
Jim Besser Posted September 14, 2024 Posted September 14, 2024 My experience with playing for vocalists has been disappointing. I've spent decades playing for dancers and learning to work with their rhythmic idiosyncrasies - especially Morris dancers - but found that adjusting to singers is an entirely different process. The reason I'm not good at it: no feet to watch! 1
Cathasach Posted September 15, 2024 Posted September 15, 2024 This is why I have my Bb/F and am looking for a Ab/Eb. It makes playing with horns a lot easier too.
Randy Stein Posted September 23, 2024 Author Posted September 23, 2024 Okay Here's a snippet of DC Ambiance playing The tune is I'm Beginning To See The Light 3
