Peter Smith
My Wheatstone Amboyna 44-button English concertina is number 511 and dates from 1842, according to the Wheatstone ledgers. There is a label on the bellows saying that the concertina belonged to J Smith. 64, Lord Street, Liverpool, possibly the original owner. It is very clean inside and out and appears to have been little played. The steel reeds are very clean, all play and are tuned to around concert pitch. At some point it was serviced by Crabb (stamp on both action boards). Riveted action. The bellows appear original and are very clean and airtight. The thumbstraps are useable. The fretwork in in beautiful amboyna laminate. The ends complete but there are some small cracks in fretwork both ends. The right-end thumbstrap is also loose. The concertina would benefit from a full restoration. Original case included. I am looking for over £500 + postage. If you have any questions, please contact me.
