Randy Stein
"IF" is a song written by American singer-songwriter David Gates in 1971. Originally popularized by his group Bread, "If" charted at No. 4 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 when released as a single in 1971. Arranged and performed by Randy Stein on a 1938 Wheatstone 56 button English Concertina. Backstory: I was hired to play for a couples 50th wedding anniversary. This one of a dozen+ songs they requested I arrange and perform from their wedding. I had a lot of fun doing this. David Barnert
I remember that song. The whole album. I was a counselor at a sleep away camp on Cape Cod in 1973 and the album was in the staff lounge. I heard it many times. But I have to admit that when I saw the title of this thread my first thought was the song “If” by Betty Comden and Adolph Green. Betty Comden used to brunch at The Ballroom when I played on Sundays. She was always all dolled up. Edited August 2 by Randy Stein
