Wheatstone Personnel in 1921.

Recommended Posts

I've just got access to the 1921 census, so I've written a 'Brief Note' in the Concertina Journal on Wheatstone Personnel in 1921. A new feature in the 1921 census is that working people were required to list their employers, so for the first time we can start sorting out who worked for Wheatstone and other makers. Both Charles Rutterford (70) and his son Ernest (27) appear on the list. Charles was a concertina teacher, and taught Harry Minting, the final manager of Wheatstone. Harry later played with Ernest Rutterford in various bands. There are photos of Harry and Ernest on the Concertina Museum site, and also twenty six 78rpm sides in the audio section of my website.
