Patrick GAVIN Posted July 6, 2024 Posted July 6, 2024 Hello everyone I have a question Do you know the STAGI company which builds concertinas, I suppose yes ? Concertine Italia Srls <concertineitalia@gmail.com> Date: 15 janv. 2024 14:35 Objet: Re: tablature A-48 baritone I ordered and paid for a baritone concertina, directly from STAGI, since January 15, 2024. https://www.boullard.ch/ did not have it in stock. Almost 6 months of waiting, despite the 3 months promised, and the only answer I get from STAGI YOUR CONCERTINA IS FROM OUR TUNER. AS SOON AS IT WILL BE READY, WE WILL WRITE YOU AN EMAIL. Maybe you know this company well. For you is she honest ? I'm asking you the question before I'm forced to take legal action. Thank you in advance for your feedback.
department of WackyIdeas Posted August 3, 2024 Posted August 3, 2024 (edited) Yes - the two awesome women who build all the concertinas at Concertine Italia are honest and nice people. They have a very small operation and build concertinas in batches. In my case, I ordered a Hayden Duet. It took several months until they had enough orders to do a run of Haydens. They build all the parts in-house except for the reeds, which they buy from a reed builder in Castlefidardo . When they have a run of instruments completed, they bring in a specialist to do the final tuning of the reeds in each instrument. I suspect that is what they mean by the "your concertina is from our tuner" line. They communicate mostly in Italian so we are probably seeing translation issues. Patrick GAVIN Posted August 3, 2024 Author Posted August 3, 2024 Thank you for this very valuable information. Why don't they give deadlines close to the actual completion of the instrument ! I will contact them in September, everyone has the right to a vacation. 1
Patrick GAVIN Posted October 4, 2024 Author Posted October 4, 2024 Hello It's been more than eight months since the order was placed and paid for a planned three-month manufacturing period. I have relaunched Concertine Italia. I have proposed that if this company is no longer able to produce a baritone concertina, that they deliver me a tenor concertina. I will wait for the return.
alex_holden Posted October 4, 2024 Posted October 4, 2024 There is another recent topic on here where somebody reported that the company has been under new management since June and is now run by a "Mr Stagi".
miklakt Posted October 11, 2024 Posted October 11, 2024 Yes it was my post. Patrick, really sorry to hear this story. At least I got my received, though in a dissatisfactory condition. I personally do not believe there were any "new managment" it is not the first time they answer to people that they have a new managment. (Coincidentally, new managment has the same habbit writting with caps lock.) Just to be transparent, I am going to send Concertina Italia the link to my post. I suggest you send them yours. If they keep silence we could ask the moderators to exclude them from the recomended list of sellers (https://www.concertina.net/forums/index.php?/topic/8925-current-makes-of-concertina/) or even write some precautions to other people.
SIMON GABRIELOW Posted October 11, 2024 Posted October 11, 2024 A great shame about the disatisfaction in this order... My own concertina was bought way back when Hohner company still made a few( in Italy) at that time. And Brunner Musica seemed to have control of the industry. I think I was lucky to get one of the later batches when they were still made to last. (1999 ,purchase). Nothing to do with recent company mentioned in these events though. I did wait to get mine for a few weeks then, until one was located left in stock. Now still playing it gone 25 years of use🌝 1

That is not a "recommended" list!! To quote from the introduction, "please bear in mind that since this an attempt at a comprehensive listing, presence on this list should not be taken as an endorsement of a maker's instruments, and the fact that several makes are listed within one category does not necessarily mean that they are of comparable quality. Before making a purchase, consider reading other concertina.net threads about particular makes or starting a thread with an inquiry of your own. If you are buying an instrument that has to be ordered in advance of construction (required for a number of makes) look for an opportunity to try out an instrument of the same make before placing an order." 1
miklakt Posted October 13, 2024 Posted October 13, 2024 Yes you are rigth, I am sorry I wrote "recommended", indeed it was just a list of known vendors. I was in a hurry to share my dissatisfaction when I saw the other person had the same treatment from them. I know that I am biased and it could be excessive, but I would make some note near the Stagi company in this list.
Patrick GAVIN Posted October 28, 2024 Author Posted October 28, 2024 Since my order in mid-January 2024, I still have not received the 48-key baritone concertina and I have not even been contacted by the carrier. Concerning you, you no longer provide information. As I informed you, I contacted the TV show which also has a radio frequency, capeutvousarriver@m6.fr. You can all contact this TV show. If my case is accepted, many people in Europe, perhaps even beyond, will be informed of your behavior towards your customers. The last cases that were handled by the lawyers of this show, which I listened to, are an instrument distributor in France and a company in Germany for another subject. I have the invoice and the emails that we exchanged. If you would like to tell me how the concertina is progressing, this information will reassure me. Boullard.ch received 48 keys and even 56 keys, why not me ? 2
SIMON GABRIELOW Posted October 29, 2024 Posted October 29, 2024 I think the lesson here is, possibly, to buy through a reputable dealer or secondary business, rather than directly with some companies. Some folk prefer to make the work, and are not always best at doing the business side. I think they took far too much work on in a smaller scale setup. If you buy through a dealer eg: separate music store, musician, collector, at least you have some options in resolving issues more directly. 1
