doodle Posted June 18, 2024 Posted June 18, 2024 (edited) NOW SOLD Superb Lachenal anglo concertina for sale. This is Lachenal's top model, which was fully overhauled in April 2021, when it was converted from Ab/Eb to A/E by Theo Gibb (well respected restorer of concertinas and melodeons) for my use on a music project. Condition is absolutely excellent and it plays really well with good response, dynamic range and lovely rounded, mellow, but bright, tone, being only 1 note above a G/D. It's a 39 key, so has all the buttons you really need without too much weight and is airtight, in tune and ready for anything! Cosmetically it is absolutely spot-on, the ends are clear and shiny and the bellows smart and supple. This instrument is not to be confused with the cheaper, more sluggish playing models from Lachenal. It is a top player not too far behind the vastly more expensive models from Wheatstone or Jeffries in terms of tone and playability, especially as it has been brilliantly set-up by a skilled restorer. Serial number is: 196487 - a 1920's instrument and it is unusual for a Lachenal in being a 39 key model with parallel reed chambers and original 7 fold bellows - altogether very desirable according to Theo Gibb. It's as good as it gets for a top metal ended Lachenal and deserves to be played more than I'm able, these days. Sales are limited to UK only. Instrument is listed elsewhere. Price is £2500.00 + delivery/postage/insurance. Non insulting offers considered!! Edited July 13, 2024 by doodle Sold outside the forum
