gcoover Posted February 26, 2024 Posted February 26, 2024 I'm not seeing anything on CNET about Sid Goldsmith, so wanted to share a couple of videos of his that I stumbled upon today quite by accident. Absolutely lovely EC playing, awesome sound on the bass EC too! He also plays in the folk trio Tarren out of Bristol. Of course, I had to immediately download the CD from their website. Mostly fiddle, cittern, accordion, and some songs and concertina. Excellent stuff. Gary 12
Steve Mansfield Posted February 26, 2024 Posted February 26, 2024 I saw Tarren at Shrewsbury Festival last year and was immediately smitten with Sid's EC playing and the band as a whole. I particularly enjoy the stylistic way he'll provide accompaniment to a tune through repeated motifs, almost live loops, rather than a 'traditional' counter melody or chord pattern. He's fitted plates to the ends so that the buttons push in flush to the plate like a button accordion, seems to prefer that. He's good isn't he!
Peter Rowlstone Posted February 26, 2024 Posted February 26, 2024 Sid is most definitely an awesome musician, and a member of this forum - so hopefully he'll see this and say hello.
Sid Wayne Goldsmith Posted July 11, 2025 Posted July 11, 2025 Well what a lovely post to come across this morning. Thanks for the kind words friends. I was just checking in this morning to see what EC's are for sale at the moment and this has brightened my day no end. I'll be off to play at Priddy Folk Festival this afternoon with Tarren so do come and chat concertinas if any of you are there. Happy honking everyone

Well, what a lovely demonstration of virtuoso English playing to come across this morning... I've never seen/heard a bass English before. Very nice! Thank you!
