department of WackyIdeas Posted June 14, 2023 Posted June 14, 2023 Having recently purchased a Hayden Duet concertina from Concertine.it, I've been looking for some help and stumbled across the excellent series that Judy Hawkins posted a few years ago. I took all of her posts, and turned them into a PDF with some minor editing reformatting. I've contacted Judy who gives her blessing for my reposting it here. She has plans to do her own edit and compilation of the tutor in the future. l Hayden Duet Concertina Tutor by Judy Hawkins------------------------ Section One --------------------------- Ok_ so_ you've got a Hayden system concertina (any type -- Stagi, Elise, Beaumont, Peacock, Wheatstone, Tedrow....), you've probab.pdfHayden Duet Concertina Tutor by Judy Hawkins------------------------ Section One --------------------------- Ok_ so_ you've got a Hayden system concertina (any type -- Stagi, Elise, Beaumont, Peacock, Wheatstone, Tedrow....), you've probab.pdfHayden Duet Concertina Tutor by Judy Hawkins------------------------ Section One --------------------------- Ok_ so_ you've got a Hayden system concertina (any type -- Stagi, Elise, Beaumont, Peacock, Wheatstone, Tedrow....), you've probab.pdf
Don Taylor Posted June 16, 2023 Posted June 16, 2023 (edited) Thanks for this, but a couple of things: 1) Maybe you should shorten the filename of your .pdf file. 2) When I plug the first .abc example in your file: into EasyABC, I get the following score which is clearly not what was intended. All of the notes in the bass clef are an octave too high, it should read: which gives us: I also changed the slurs in the original .abc into ties, assuming that was what Judy meant. Don. DaveRo Posted June 16, 2023 Posted June 16, 2023 I found these useful - and fun - when I bought a Hayden. I still have a bookmark to them, so you can read the contemporary comments: https://www.concertina.net/forums/index.php?/search/&q= Hayden Tutorial&type=forums_topic&nodes=11&author=judyhawkins&updated_after=any&sortby=newest&search_and_or=or&search_in=titles They're in reverse chronological order.
department of WackyIdeas Posted June 22, 2023 Author Posted June 22, 2023 My apologies to the universe and especially to Judy for eff'ing up the title. Here is an updated version with a proper title. I'll leave the corrections of content to the author who plans to offer the series as an epub in the future. . Hayden harum scarum tutorial - Judy Hawkins.pdf
Michael Eskin Posted June 22, 2023 Posted June 22, 2023 I found adding "middle=d" worked with my tool to automagically tranpose the bass: X:1 T:The First Leaves of Spring M:3/4 L:1/4 K:G V:1 clef=treble V:2 clef=bass middle=d [V:1] |: GAB | BAG | AGA | BAG | GAB | BAG | ABA | (G3 | G3) :| [V:2] |: G3 | B3 | c3 | d3 | G3 | B3 | c3 | (B3 | B3) :|

The two voices should be an octave apart. Try “middle=D” instead: https://tinyurl.com/4nzt2s2b
Michael Eskin Posted June 22, 2023 Posted June 22, 2023 Oh, cool, I replaced the shortened URL above to a version with the change.
