The earliest version of this tune appears to be Charles Duff's tune - "Braes of Aberarder,", published in 1790.

However, the version I play is closer to the Neil Gow one, which was published in the Skye Collection of 1887, as played here by master Fiddler Paul Anderson who credits William Marshall as the composer.

Not surprising really that so many people wanted to be remembered for, or at leat associated with, such a great tune.
