Roger Hare Posted March 11, 2023 Posted March 11, 2023 (edited) Basic ABC/PDF for those who may be interested. I think the recording is played in A ('tin ear' syndrome!), so the ABC is also in A. There are two renderings - one without chords (hopefully suitable for pipers), and one with chords (for Sassenach Softies like me...). Pipe tunes are a bit of a mystery to ordinary mortals like me, so: From Jack Campin's Scales and Modes in Scottish Traditional Music: "...The Highland pipe uses a scale which is nearer to the Mixolydian mode than to anything else in the Western system... It is written as if based on A..." (my emphasis) So maybe the key sig. in that ABC should be K:Amix, or even K:Hp? SusanMacLeod.abc Susan MacLeod.pdf Edited March 11, 2023 by lachenal74693

It takes a sharper(*) ear than mine to detect that! So I guess it should be K:Hp/Amix in the ABC code I posted? ____ (*) pun intended... Edited March 13, 2023 by lachenal74693
