soloduet Posted February 27, 2023 Posted February 27, 2023 After one year spent on the Striso, a digital instrument with the same Wicki keyboard than my Beaumont duet concertina, I wanted also to feel the vibration of the reeds again: https://youtu.be/BMYCp_X70tg 10
SIMON GABRIELOW Posted February 27, 2023 Posted February 27, 2023 A lovely and sublime sound and performance.
David Barnert Posted February 27, 2023 Posted February 27, 2023 Nice. Very impressive. I’ve never been able to play Bach convincingly on the Hayden. Good to see you back on concertina.net. 1
Steve Schulteis Posted February 27, 2023 Posted February 27, 2023 Great playing, and wow can that extended bellows extend!
soloduet Posted March 3, 2023 Author Posted March 3, 2023 Thank you very much! David and everybody, if you want to give it a try I can send the score that I've used for this recording.

mandojoe Posted March 3, 2023 Posted March 3, 2023 (edited) If you'd be kind enough to post the score, I'd very much like to give this something more than a try. I have to say, soloduet, that in addition to your masterful musicianship, I've admired the sound of your particular instrument from the moment I first heard you play Roslin Castle ... and this sound played no small part in getting me to dive into the concertina realm. I've been inspired by Didie's playing - especially Roslin Castle. When I got my Peacock Hayden he kindly sent me the score to The Water is Wide. It has long slurred phrases and I keep running out of air from my merely 6-fold bellows.

Not to take anything away from Didie’s playing, but as far as I’ve been able to determine, the very first YouTube of a solo person playing a concertina in a self-made video was Danny Chapman (RatFace here on concertina.net) playing Roslin Castle in 2006.
soloduet Posted March 5, 2023 Author Posted March 5, 2023 Yes Danny has made history and his innovative arrangements are always a great inspiration! Here are the scores and like I did it's always possible to change some notes in the accompaniment to adapt to a different range. Cheers, Didie Air on the G Chord 1.pdf Air on the G Chord 2.pdf 1

James Fitton Posted August 17, 2023 Posted August 17, 2023 That's really lovely - thanks for posting! Beautiful arrangement, beautifully played!
soloduet Posted September 19, 2023 Author Posted September 19, 2023 Thank you James, glad you like it! Didie

I'll echo the 'great playing' part. The bellows are indeed remarkably extensive, and yet Didie manages only two bars before changing direction. My Holden Crane, which measures only 6 1/4" across the flats and has only six fold bellows, can manage four bars. What are other people's experiences? LJ
