ABC Transcription Tools

I’ve created a new automatic tune player website builder at:

https://michaeleskin.com/tools/abctools_website_generator.html

that will generate a complete standalone website for you from your ABC files without any coding required.

The website has a tune selector at the top, selecting a tune opens the tune in the ABC Transcription Tools player in the frame below the selector.

You can take the resulting .html file, customize it if you want, run it locally, or host it on your own web hosting service.

Demo video:

I've also added the automatic tunebook website generator to the main tool on the "Export All Tunes" dialog (under "More Tools").

The tool can generate a complete standalone website for you from the ABC tunes in the editor without any coding required.

You may customize the title, subtitle, background color, and width and height of the player frame.

Additionally, you may optionally select a soundfont, melody, bass, and chord instruments and volumes to inject into each tune for use when the tune is played.

The website has a tune selector at the top, selecting a tune opens the tune in the ABC Transcription Tools player in the frame below the selector.

The tune will be displayed using the current notation or stringed instrument tablature setting selected at the time the website is generated.

You can take the resulting .html file, customize it if you want, run it locally, or host it on your own web hosting service.

Demo video of customizing the website text, color, and playback instruments/volumes:

To pick up these website generator updates, you'll need to make sure you have the latest version of the tool, which is:

2050_102924_1630

You can check the running version number by opening the "Advanced Settings" dialog, and it will be on the lower left.

If the number starts with anything lower than 2050, you should see on the "hamburger" menu (top right of the tool) a notification that there is an update available. Click it and follow the instructions.

If you have an earlier version, and no notification of an update available, follow the instructions on this page on how to force an update to the latest version:

https://michaeleskin.com/abctools/userguide.html#advanced_resetsettings

Power user tip:

In the very latest version of the tool (version 2052_103024_1600 or later, check the value on the lower left of the "Advanced Settings" dialog), you can Shift-click the "Export PDF" button (or the PDF button at the lower left on desktop browsers) to export a website instead.

Added additional options to the website generator:

You can now set the color of the text (title, subtitle, any footers) as well as a different color for any hyperlinks you put in the title, subtitle, or footers.

You now have an option to disable access to the editor from the generated website.  (Unchecked by default)

When this option is checked, the zoom button in the upper right corner of the frame will be suppressed when selecting a tune and exiting the player.

These changes are in version:
2059_110224_1300

Update to the latest to pickup the changes.

With so many settings now available for the tunebook website generator, I'm now saving all of them and restoring them each time the tool is used so you don't have to re-enter them every time if you have a common set of setting you like to use.

For example, if you always have the same tunebook website title, footers, and colors, as well as instruments you want to use for playback, once you select them in the "Generate Tunebook Website" dialog and click "OK", they will be saved and restored the next time you use the feature, even if you have quit the app and open it later.

Changed the User Guide to use a left side navigation on desktop browsers. Mobile browsers still use the original accordion style navigation at the top.

New User Guide navigation is in version 2063_110324_1030 or later.

Look for the update available notification on the “hamburger” menu dropdown.

Update the tool manually if required to pickup the latest changes.
