Obviously the most famous use case of the concertina in film is in westerns. One such, Paleface with Bob Hope has a sweet rendition of Buttons and Bows. Though he is not actually playing the concertina, I had always assumed it was still the concertina in the recording until I recently picked one up. Either the recording was slowed down making it a lower pitch or as I suspect now, it was a different small boxed accordion like instrument playing the title. What could it be? The English concertina? AngloConcertina1 Posted December 28, 2022 Author Share Posted December 28, 2022 Interesting, I do have a piano accordion and have tried it, definitely similar but the recording just sounds a bit more "smaller" so maybe a 12 bass piano accordion?
