Bassconcertina.net
Hello, Im building a treble concertina using american pump organ reeds and I was wondering if a warp/twist in the reed tongue mattered. Thanks!

Tom www.bluesbox.biz One thing I do know is that the warped/twisted reeds do sound when used on a vacuum cleaner.
d.elliott
It's a bit of a bugger to empty the dirt from the bellows though.

Chris Ghent
A pronounced twist on the end of a harmonium reed is an attempt to make the stop the reed belongs to sound different to the others. In the concertina context the exaggerated gap between the twisted part of the reed and the frame could be considered a very large leak, making the reed assembly very inefficient. Stephen Chambers
You'll get whole sets of reeds in an American organ that are deliberately twisted when it is made, it's to achieve a particular sound on one of the stops. I doubt if you could straighten them out successfully, especially after the length of time they'll have been like that.
