fred v Posted June 26, 2022 Posted June 26, 2022 My thumb straps are replacements and they have a nice soft feel to them but as I play they stretch and my thumbs slide in too far. Is there anything I can do to keep this from happening?
SIMON GABRIELOW Posted June 26, 2022 Posted June 26, 2022 Stretchy thumb straps? I am sorry to hear that. Maybe it's not up to me to give best advice as I play Anglo style concertina which has the wider hand straps of course. Maybe you should look for a stiffer leather replacement? They are I suppose only leather strips at the end of the day, although important of course. Best if luck.
d.elliott Posted June 27, 2022 Posted June 27, 2022 probably made without the fabric core or, the core not anchored onto the leather.
fred v Posted September 29, 2022 Author Posted September 29, 2022 I finally got around to fixing this. I had some thin leather laying about so I cut 2 strips and used Barge Cement to glue the strips to the inside of the existing strap. Barge is just a contact cement but is the absolute best brand I have found. The white strip is exposed cement that I covered with a paper strip. I've been playing for about a month with this fix and it's perfect!!!
