SIMON GABRIELOW Posted April 10, 2022 Posted April 10, 2022 (edited) The historical works of Jacob Van Eyck have been popular with musicians [mainly on recorder or flute etc],, for hundreds of years. What a wonderful gift to the world; particularly as Jacob Van Eyck was blind, to have developed his skill for composition to such a level. Flute players [recorder] use them quite a bit, however they lend themselves to any instrument that fits the range, and seem to be universal in their appeal. I have always found them a favourite of my own, for many years, as they are written on solely the melody line, so allowing one to be generous in the way you play them, and to even freely add chords as you so wish. They are fairly easy to play too, so relaxing after more academic stuff [ at least I find]. This one is called Van Goosen. Incidentally, I have another tune in the collection [ from Der Fluyten Lust -hof] with an unpronounceable name! so I will leave it out of here for now! Edited April 10, 2022 by SIMON GABRIELOW
