Ukrainian National Anthem

gcoover

Recommended Posts

A little musical Aloha for those defending their country.

Not saying the tab perfectly matches the dots (nicked off the internet), but hopefully it's close enough.

For any and all concertina players in Ukraine, and elsewhere.

Here's a simple ABC version for those who are that way inclined - based on GC's pdf -  same reservations apply...

My goodness that tablature supplied here  by lachnel74693 looks very complicated indeed!!

I am glad I can read music [ at least adequately]!

Heh! It scared the pants off me at 0600 this morning when I looked at what I ended up with!

It's not as bad as it looks, though I agree it does look a bit murky at first sight.

It's a rendering into ABC of the PDF GC posted (without the tablature(1)). It should be possible

for reasonably fluent ABC'ers(2) to (a) ditch the 2nd voice (the bass clef); (b) filter out the voice

overlay in the treble clef to get a simple melody.

____________

(1) According to my understanding of the term, there is no 'tablature' in what I posted.

It is my stab at a conventional, unadorned, score.

(2) I'm no expert! Remember, the point of the ABC is to produce a sensible score (or

playback). There are supposed to be folks who can 'sight-read' from an ABC script. Not this

pilgrim, I'm afraid!

_________________________________________________________________________________________________

Later edit:

I deliberately didn't post the PDF generated by that ABC because I didn't want to divert attention

away from GC's PDF, but if the complexity of the ABC is 'worrying', I've attached the PDF generated

by that ABC. As you can see, it's simply GC's PDF without the tablature...

Good work.

It was my intention to transcribe this and take it to an easy session that I run BUT you've beaten me to it.

However I've gone the other way , down to Em,  here's the ABC & PDF

Thank you Gary, for sharing this.

Minor errata.

On the bar 15, where it shows 1, 5a, 9 on left hand, is should be 1a, 5a, 9, like bar 9.

The fourth beat on bar 17,  "2" should be added on right hand side, just like bar 21.

It is in a way to see some goodness come from this horrible period in history; as concerns the events in Europe.  The goodness here is on this forum; and is the  peoples' concern and hopes for the future of that bullied nation Ukraine] .. I often wonder what my late father would have thought to it all [he was born in a town on the eastern border of Poland; and later his own town was taken into Ukraine [after WW2].

Yes, of course. The more musicians we reach the better.

Playing tunes may not stop any bullets but it can show support & solidarity for a beleaguered nation.

Thank you. I have posted the abc on facebook and a link to your PDF file. The abc seems to include a smiley face. What do you do to clear it?     This link is to a youtube clip of Mary Humphries and anahata playing the theme:

Snip. Snip.

I don't know where the smiley came from! It appeared when i first posted to this thread & I  had to go back to the message and edit it out.

I don’t see the smiley face (it’s already edited out), but I know how they can find their way into posts here. If your typing includes characters that can be interpreted as a smiley face (for instance a colon followed by a close parenthesis, or, very commonly here, a B followed by a close parenthesis) the system replaces it with the emoticon that the characters suggest (the “B” plus “)” yields a smiley wearing sunglasses).

I suspect the smiley happened where your abc includes a repeat sign (colon plus | )

The way to avoid it happening is to place the abc in a “code” field (see the <> button in the control bar above the typing window).

Like this.

Just for kicks, I’m going to type the abc repeat sign and then type it again in a code field to see if it happens:

😐

:|

Yup, there’s your problem, and the solution.
