Sharron Posted October 6, 2003 Posted October 6, 2003 I have emailed RTE and received a reply saying they no longer had any copies of the cd left. I have tried various places and I am not having much luck. Has anyone seen a copy lately? Having just started out on concertina I have to say I am a bit short on cds and the info on this site has really whetted my appetite for the *old* style of playing so I really quite fancied this cd. I have ordered the Kitty Hayes one as I was told it was also in the old style, but will have to wait and see/hear. If you know of any others which are similar please point me in the right direction. I have a substantial collection of fiddle and box cds, some I really wish I hadn't wasted my money on, plus some real gems I didn't know existed. So I have decided to *go slow* and not buy everthing at once (can't anyway they're too expensive) and be a bit choosy before jumping in. I play fiddle so can put tunes on the concertina but I need to hear the concertina variations as otherwise it just sound like my fiddle The Mrs Crotty examples sound just like what I am after so anything similar would be great, just point me in the right direction please. Thanks Sharron

Sharron Posted October 10, 2003 Author Posted October 10, 2003 I have still had no luck so far finding this cd. If anyone has a copy they wish to sell please let me know. Also if anyone has heard it please tell me what you think. Thanks Sharron
Guest Posted October 12, 2003 Posted October 12, 2003 Or if anyone has a copy that they are willing to lend, I am more than happy to pay postage/insurance both ways! Here's hoping (hey if never hurts to ask! ) Cheers Morgana Melbourne, Australia
Sharron Posted October 21, 2003 Author Posted October 21, 2003 Morgana have you had any luck with finding the cd? I even have people with Mrs. Crotty's festival looking for it, but no-one has a copy. I am not giving up, just wondered how you were getting on with your search. Sharron
Perry Werner Posted October 21, 2003 Posted October 21, 2003 Howdy: Though I would much prefer a CD and did contact RTE about this, I did receive the following response (below) and did place an order which I believe is currently being processed. Better than not having the recording which I would like to listen too at all, though I would prefer not to purchase anything on cassette Maybe if RTE received enough interest, they would re-release the CD. Here is the response I received last week. email address for RTE and Claire is: celmerch@rte.ie "Unfortunately we do not have any copies of this available on CD but we do have some copies available on cassette tape at a cost of •8.99 plus postage and packaging depending on where you are based we accept credit card payments over the phone or bank draft/cheques/pistal orders in euros kind regards claire 00353 1 2083453" Hope this is of help. Best, Perry Werner
Sharron Posted October 21, 2003 Author Posted October 21, 2003 Thanks Perry for the info. RTE emailed me back and never even mentioned a tape. I will have quite a bit of trouble getting it put onto cd though as I don't have a tape player. But if that is all there is Well so be it. Will you let me know when you get yours and what the quality is like of the *tape*. If it is ok, I might just pay someone to put it onto cd for me if they have any left. Thanks Sharron
A.D. Homan Posted October 22, 2003 Posted October 22, 2003 I will have quite a bit of trouble getting it put onto cd though as I don't have a tape player. Hi Sharron, I can convert it to CD if you'd like. (No charge, of course.). I've done this with a few other cassettes not available on CD. The results are O.K., not super hi fi but good enough for me to listen to with headphones and certainly perfect for learning tunes. Contact me off list if you want to give this a try. Andy
Sharron Posted October 22, 2003 Author Posted October 22, 2003 Thanks for the offer Andy. Where are you? I am in the UK. Sharron
A.D. Homan Posted October 22, 2003 Posted October 22, 2003 (edited) Thanks for the offer Andy.Where are you? I am in the UK. Oops, that might be a problem. I'm in the U.S. Maybe it's time for a new thread on how to convert cassettes to CD? (In most cases, all you need is a Walkman, a mini-to-mini cable, and some freeware on your computer... and the time it takes. I don't know about PC but on Macs it's a simple process.) Also, after receiving some off-list requests, I'd like to make it clear that I don't own the cassette, the person who wants to convert it would have to provide it. Sorry!
