Colleague at lunch mentioned a concertina song by Harry Belafonte. I've never heard it, but down loaded the lyrics. Cool.

Oy, Mark, this brings back memories of my ex-mother-in-law! The only music on earth for her was that played on WNEW FM from NYC (now mourned as it was taken over by talk radio, but at the time it played nothing but hits from the 30s and 40s). At the time I didn't appreciate the richness of the musical offerings, but I guess I'm beginning to now.

 

I can hear her now, crooning off-tune as she washes the dishes to the strains of the tinny radio...

 

Not such a bad memory after all!

I remember this tune from long ago (it was a hit in 1958?) and even found a sound sample on this page.

Should be nice to try it on a concertina.
