Liraman
What is the general view on quality for late late Wheatstone English concertinas? I am currently working on a 1972, 48 button nickel-plated sides English concertina that hasn't been played much and will need some loving care to get resurrected. I tried to find early answers in this Forum but didn't find much besides that those made in the 60ies are "supposed" to be better than those produced later on, due to low quality material choice for reeds, somewhat chaotic relocations of shop and owners and so on. Anyone here that knows more?

Oberon
I had one from that era and it was actually quite lovely. Dovetailed steel reeds in aluminum shoes and even though the action was their style of 'hook action' it was swift and smooth. I miss its tone but I'm an Anglo man at heart
