From Iceland to Okinawa

Playing concertina, or any musical instrument, is a nice way to travel in a pandemic time.

Here is an Icelandic hymn discovered on C.net (thanks Gregor!):

And here is a song from Okinawa "The Voice of the Sea", usually played on the sanshin, a traditional 3 strings lute. On this drawing one can also see the nice concertina bag used by concertina players in Okinawa:

That Icelandic Hymn was recorded by Fiddle Fever about 40 years ago (how time flies) - Jay Unger, Evan Stover, Matt Glaser, et al. with a similar tempo and feel on multiple violins. Very nice on duet concertina!

Tap, Didie describes his Morse Beaumont with extra bellows in this thread.

Wow. I thought it sounded familiar (more than familiar, I knew where it was headed but I didn’t know why). Thanks, Ken. I have the Fiddle Fever album on vinyl. I know I haven’t heard it in at least 36 years, because it’s been that long since I moved to Albany without my turntable.
