- and individuals are different anyway - my dog used to love my playing any of my concertinas (in the manner of a quiet listener, mind you), even begging for more...

I haven’t had a dog in over 40 years, predating my concertina playing. But in my youth I always wondered about how my dog felt about my music. It was clear he didn’t appreciate my soprano recorder playing, but I also played cello and classical guitar, and he didn’t seem to notice. Then I learned to play Villa-Lobos’s 1st guitar prelude, which starts with an unusual slide (glissando) of the first finger up the frets of the A string. One day, I called home from college and my mother told me that they played the piece on the radio, and when the dog heard it he went nuts looking for me.
