semaj1950 Posted November 4, 2020 Posted November 4, 2020 Hi Gang, I mostly play Anglo 30b instruments, but I’ve started tinkering with English ones. I was wondering what those of you who own and play Stagi A-18 concertinas think of them. Preferably, responders should have actually owned or laid hands on one of these. Thank you in advance.
seanc Posted November 5, 2020 Posted November 5, 2020 I tried a used one once... so can not speak to how they are either new or having been tweaked. but it was just OK. if it is a budget thing. I would opt for the Jackie. All around better and has the standard 48 button range. if it is a size, cool factor thing. Then, that is something else.
Peter Smith Posted November 5, 2020 Posted November 5, 2020 I owned one for a few years until recently. I found the 18 button English easy and fun to play by ear. It was easier for me than a 48 button English concertina. My main concertinas are anglo and crane. I sold it as rarely play it. I would recommend the 18 button stagi though it is limited in its range.
Steve Morrison Posted November 7, 2020 Posted November 7, 2020 Great fun to play and the portability is wonderful.
