Sad news from County Clare: Gerald Haugh, who was recorded in his house in 1974 for Irish Traditional Concertina Styles (released by Topic in 1977), and All-Ireland Concertina Champion 1975 (I was at the Fleadh competition, in Buncrana, when he won), died on Sunday.

His Death Notice is here on RIP.ie

Oh, that is  sad.  I  enjoyed  a short  chat  with  Gerald  at  last  year's  Willie  Clancy  summer  school  and  he  was  in fine playing form  then.

I just saw the news when checking the obits at Clare fm. Very sorry to hear. One of the last of the old style players from that corner of the county. I hadn't seen him for a while, between the lockdown and everything else but he was always ready for a chat or to play a tune, if he had the concertina handy.
