humidity changes

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

I have a Bastari concertina that I purchased in 1983. I live in southern Manitoba which is cold and dry. Do you think that it would be harmed if I took it to Puerto Vallarta which is warm and humid?

Thank you for your consideration.

It could react to the humidity. A friend of mine had a similar problem when taking her concertina from California to Ireland. Not sure if it could adapt though, does anyone else have more experience?

Adapting to temperature and humidity can effectively reduce the damage to the instrument, and a dry box commonly used by photographers can solve your problems. I live in a hot and humid subtropical environment. Many of my wooden instruments are in a dry box when not in use. Humidity is the enemy of instrument damage.
