are wooden ends solid or laminated

Recommended Posts

I have wondered...  Some new makers are making solid ends.  Is everyone?  Coming from the world of wood flutes and seasonal humidity changes I am sort of paranoid about an instrument with solid wood ends.  But maybe that is what everyone does.

Not everyone does.  Morse concertinas from the Button Box use cherry plywood ends.  I own one of their Beaumont models and am quite pleased with it.  That said, I wouldn't be too concerned about solid ends since the instrument won't experience the same humidity extremes that a breath instrument would.
