H C Crabb in case # 9442. How old is it?

Recommended Posts

I acquired this instrument as a reconditioned one from the company in the early 70's.  Still in good condition but not played for around 20 years

Hi Vern,  I have 8837 (1907) and used to have 9987 (1941).  9442 is obviously in between those dates.  Maybe early 30s?

Hi Saguaro, I have 8835 --  I thought that was from 1908, not sure.   It is a 30 button anglo in C/G.

Hi Arkwright,

I’d checked with Geoff Crabb and my 8837 is from 1907.  It’s a 57b Crane.  Interesting (to me anyway) that the reeds are laid out like an Anglo instead of around the outside.

My #9442 is also a 30 button Anglo C/G

I have #9155 (48 button Crane) which Geoff told me was 1934.

I had No.9414 which Geoffrey Crabb told me was from the period 1935-38. A more exact date could not be given because of missing records.

I have 9008 Geoff kindly told me it was made by H T Crabb in 1927. David.

Thanks to you all.  Very helpful.  The safest assumption I can make is that #9442 falls in the 1935-38 period where there are missing records

Hi all, unfortunately I am in the Royal Brompton Hospital London awaiting heart surgery so am unable to access the number/date records. This situation will, if resolved, hopefully see me eventually back and active among the concertina community.
