daviseri
PROBLEM RESOLVED. THANKS. Hello, Everyone. I have a Wheatstone Crane concertina that has a reed which is not firing properly. Sounds muted and a dull buzz. see video. I had taken the reed out and put it tightly in the slot again. But no luck. Any ideas? Lofty
How did you resolve it? Others who have a similar problem might like to know..... It is potentially useful to have a recording of a problem, then a solution. Steve Edited December 13, 2018 by Lofty
Chris Ghent
My first thought is the reed frame is loose in the pan. It will not be hard to fix, it has to be one of, the frame is loose, there is something jammed in the reed, or the valve is stuck.
David Barnert
Certainly sounds like air slipping between the reed frame and the pan slot. If pulling the reed frame out of the slot and pressing it back in (as described in the original post) didn’t work, perhaps a shim was necessary. How did you resolve it?
d.elliott
loose reed frame in its slot, needs shimming or 'bushing' with paper. see concertina maintenance manual ?
