saguaro_squeezer
I switch between my Lachenal and Crabb quite a bit. I tend to play the Lachenal more when I'm tired because my fingers appreciate the extra spacing.
Peter Smith
The 67 button is 9 1/4 inches across the flats - so quite a bit bigger. Still feels like a concertina even thought its big - & its not too heavy either. Peter

Peter Smith
I’ve not opened it up yet to check, so don’t know. Peter
Peter Smith
The concertina was retuned a couple of months before I bought it by Nigel Sture. He seemed to recall that the reed frames were aluminium. Peter

The Lachenal wouldn’t provide the diatonic scale as a diagonal „row“, your fingers would have to go zigzag a bit - or is it simply that your „learning“ instrument had been a Lachenal? Best wishes - ? saguaro_squeezer
Hi Wolf, I seem to remember a thread where the spacing was measured. To me, playing the two, the chevron feels a bit closer but my fingers don't seem to miss the outer rows as easily. That said, I can't do some of the finger crossings that I use to make the 4th jumps smoother (same key, up one row, e.g., G to C). It's probably just me but I jump between the two and notice it for now.
