I was somewhat astonished to learn that Bert Jansch played an English concertina.

I was a huge fan of theirs and saw them live twice in the early 70's. I had not discovered concertina then: I was a late teenager.

Anyone else out there who was a fan and didn't know he played ?

I also saw Pentangle at Newcastle City Hall on more than one occasion and once in the (then) University Theatre in the Haymarket as a solo performer.

Not once did I spot a concertina!

I heard that song sung by them for so many years before I was aware what a concertina was. I thought the backing was some sort of organ of some kind. It is unmistakable now...

Me.

I was one of countless young people who slavishly learned his version of Angie on guitar.
