accordian
anyone know if this instrument is any good? thanks
kevodell
I suppose the question is ‘any good for what’? I started off with it, as an entry level instrument, and found that I could play a tune. This was a big deal for me. I scaled up as I found there were limitations for me, mainly around the bellows and the key positioning (or my fingers). If you’re looking for an instrument to start off with, I had no problems with it but, as I say, depends on what you want it for and what you want to do.. accordian
well I don't currently have one so I spose thats one thing lol I'd like to try it out and not have to spend to much. i mean if it works and you can plays songs then woo hoo as for a beginner instrument i'm not too worried about sound although you say about the bellows. as in not enough air? but again i'm only starting and don't want to spend too much yet
JimmyM
its a low end instrument but many of us started out on similar and from there get the bug and get much better instruments.

JimR
A common recommendation is Concertina Connection's Rochelle, which are ~$450 in the US.
Susanne
I've tried both the Rochelle and the Scarlatti and I think the Scarlatti is the big winner. The Rochelle is too large in my opinion and mine had problems from the start. The Scarlatti is more like any standard concertina in size and was a good enough instrument for me to start with. I paid about the same price as you would for a Rochelle but in Ireland. While it's not a fantastic instrument, it is definitely a good entry-level instrument if you want to get something that is decent to start on but not pay loads to begin with. Steve Morrison
Hi, I sell the Scarlatti at Red Cow Music and can honestly say the are a smashing little Concertina’s. We test all concertinas before they leave us, and if we find a problem we fix it. unfortunately large online companies ( not mentioning names) don’t do this, so a number of Concertina’s arrive with customers not working and they review them as poor quality. We stock a great range of starter concertinas, so if you need help just call me. Steve

Steve Morrison
These concertinas are excellent for anyone starting to play the English concertina. Why people buy these from Amazon I have no idea, buy a concertina from a instrument store where it should be checked and tested before leaving. https://redcowmusic.co.uk/product/scarlatti-sce-30-english-concertina/ Cheers Steve
