Mark Gilston Sings With Concertina

Recommended Posts

I did enjoy it. In Britain, the chorus words are that's the song of the Salvation Army, but the sentiment is the same.

I've been doing a "Folklore Series" of songs I learned from oral tradition in my childhood. Most of them I sing unaccompanied as I learned them, but some of them I've incorporated into my performances, and those I accompany with dulcimer, guitar or concertina.

Here is Lather and Shave, a song I've performed with concertina since the mid 1970's, If you want to skip the intro and get right to the song, it begins at 45 seconds into the video.

Enjoy,

Hi Mark, I missed this in the first place as I simply wasn't "here" at that time...

These videos are much enjoyed, lively and witty, and I find the "oom-pah" labeling re the waltz song a bit of an understatement, simply love your turning the accompaniment into this parallel harmony thing from time to time...

You might check the link in the latest post as it's pointing to "Lather and Shave" once again for me.

Keep up the good work! Best wishes - Wolf
