d.elliott Posted April 25, 2025 Posted April 25, 2025 Matt, 34122, has been dated before on this thread, 1896 Dave 1
wes williams Posted April 25, 2025 Posted April 25, 2025 (edited) Thanks Dave, that's very helpful. That previous date was given as 1897, and was supplied by me in mid 2021 before I took over Randy's database in August. 34122 isn't on the database, so a bit of a pointer as to where I need to start when looking for any numbers missing from the database - probably 2019 🧐 !!! 4to5to6 Posted April 29, 2025 Posted April 29, 2025 Could I have the year for 53127 please? It is a rosewood ended English treble with brass reeds and metal buttons.
wes williams Posted May 3, 2025 Posted May 3, 2025 We'd estimate 189997 as circa 1914. It will be a 22 button anglo system concertina. 1
Bazzer Posted May 23, 2025 Posted May 23, 2025 Hi, i'm a newbie to concertinas. Just upgraded from a Jackie to this Lachenal Paragon 48 button, serial 31502. Any idea of date for this one? I'm guessing early 1890s? Thanks Baz.

wes williams Posted June 5, 2025 Posted June 5, 2025 Les Jessop posted : I recently bought Lachenal 7381 at a local auction. Going by the 2004 article by Stephen Chambers about the history of Lachenal, I think it dates from the early years of the firm, 1858-1861. A similar 32-button instrument (Lachenal 6599) is illustrated in the article. I'm attaching a few photographs and would welcome comments. We'd estimate this as circa 1861.
Ryanoberlein Posted June 6, 2025 Posted June 6, 2025 Hi all, I'm new to this forum, just picked up this lachenal concertina at a flea market. I'm assuming "1553" is the serial number, it's also etched in the frame in a few places (I took it apart to check out the inner mechanisms). From my own research I'm guessing this is an anglo concertina made around 1873? I could very much be wrong as I know nothing about these instruments. If you have a better estimation let me know.
Tiposx Posted June 6, 2025 Posted June 6, 2025 Hi it looks like a Lachenal. Is there a label recessed in the fretwork? It is a duet, not an anglo.
Don Taylor Posted June 6, 2025 Posted June 6, 2025 67 button Maccann duet? See: http://www.concertina.com/maccann-duet/ Looks in decent condition.

This is a Maccann Duet - a button should play the same note in both bellows direction (assuming its in tune). Anglos play a different note in and out. The Maccann Duet was invented in 1880, patented in 1884, and it was made circa 1896.
