Goldhand Posted March 6 Posted March 6 Hello! looking for help dating my 20 button lachenel concertina. I could of swore I read somewhere that Barnett Samuel and son were distributors. any info would be greatly appreciated.
wes williams Posted March 6 Posted March 6 (edited) We'd estimate your anglo concertina as c.1876. The firm of Barnett Samuel was established in 1832 and the 'and Son' came into being in 1875.We have over 30 reports of Lachenal concertinas with this firm's labels, starting in the early 1870s and continuing to the mid 1890s. The firm stopped in 1919. Edited March 7 by wes williams 30 reports of LACHENAL concertinas 1
4to5to6 Posted March 7 Posted March 7 (edited) I would appreciate a circa date for my 37011 Lachenal 48 key English Baritone that I am thinking of selling. Thank you Edited March 7 by 4to5to6
wes williams Posted March 7 Posted March 7 c.1899. I would appreciate a few more details for our database - like ends, buttons, and reed materials.
Gashepherd Posted March 12 Posted March 12 I just recently picked up this Lachenal concertina with bone buttons, mahogany ends and steel reeds serial number is 197480 looking to date
wes williams Posted March 12 Posted March 12 And I'm looking for more details first - number of buttons?
wes williams Posted March 12 Posted March 12 Thanks for the button count and the photo. We'd estimate 197480 as circa 1925.
damyon Posted March 19 Posted March 19 Hello all! I've just got 30k Rosewood Anglo 144672 - I'm guessing 1910 ish, can anyone narrow it down for me. Also if you restored this one, Dave Robertson, restorer in Norfolk was really curious about who made the bellows 😊 Many thanks
Jeffreeze Posted March 19 Posted March 19 (edited) I just came into possession of a Lachenal 20 button Anglo with wooden ends, serial # 144931. The case has a label from J.H. Ebblewhite's Music & Musical Instrument Warehouse. From other posts here I am guessing a date of mid 1890's. Edit: # 144931 Edited March 19 by Jeffreeze typo on serial #

judyhawkins Posted March 20 Posted March 20 (edited) I would like an estimate for my 56 button English Lachenal, which has a makers label that says Lachenal & Co., and serial number 21202. Thanks! Judy Edited March 20 by judyhawkins sp.
