Surprising it needed tuning so soon after manufacture, unless he was changing the pitch of course. It turns out to be an Ab/Eb perhaps he converted it. It has an absolutley superb set of reeds. Also, that number is earlier than the next one that you dated as 1887? Also, can you date 55936, which is what is on the bellows of the tina whose reedpans are stamped 57544? Thanks! They are both simple models in C/G with the same wooden fretwork, 5 fold bellows and bone buttons. No 49427 is a 20-button with brass reeds and No 142125 is a 30-button with steel reeds. They don’t have fancy bellows or bushing in the button holes, so I imagine they were made for home use rather than performance. I can post photos if you’d like. Wooding of Liverpool Road, Newcastle under Lyme, and another mostly illegible address dated as 10th December 1896. I don’t think it has been tuned since! First one - 68key MacCann duet, no 2184. Metal ends and buttons, extended hexagon shape, steel reeds, radial reed pans. Second one - 55 key MacCann duet, no 1876. Riveted action, steel reeds, parallel reed pans, extended hexagon, metal buttons and ends, but ends not original. Inside is a picture of its owner and the written legend “ Harland and Rollison, musical grotesques” and a Bradford address. Very nicely restored by Andrew Norman Co, Shrewsbury UK Solid Rosewood ends. Bone buttons. 6 fold 'original' bellows. Steel reeds. Extra buttons are Whistle and Squeak. Weight: 1154g Reedpan Serial 23681 Bellows Serial 23296 Believed to date pre 1878 (Louis Lachenal) but 6 fold bellows may have been substituted for 5 fold in 1882 possibly during a repair.
