Two Quicksteps On A Crane...

Hi there,

in preparation for the upcoming workshop season, I've recorded and uploaded a little set I like to play (nothing like last minute panic to keep them old bellows moving):

https://soundcloud.com/rac-13/louth-quick-step-29-liverpool-quick-step

Still somewhat anemic and could use more dynamics, methinks, but getting there. Thanks for listening.

Edit: Replaced the original recording w/ v2.0

Why thank YOU John! There's not a whole lot more a manufacturer of music (and no, I won't call myself a musician, that would be a disgrace to all of you who are) can ask for than helping someone through the day! :) And coming from somebody of your calibre, it's even more flattering...

Here's another one. Those are rather straightforward pieces, but I find them hard to render appropriately, probably because they *are* uncomplicated:

I upload those even though I know there are shortcomings (and I even believe I know where they are). Why? I don't know; I guess it's as good as I can possibly get at this point (time to practice always appears too short no matter how much one can shell out for it). And hey, maybe someone even likes it, or somebody has new helpful hints for improvement.

In any case, thanks for listening!

I uploaded another set:

I learned this one from master concertina player, dance instructor, tune collector and gentleman David Ball about a year ago. This year he brought in another great set which I hope will take me less than a year to, well, at least render recognizably.

Thanks for listening, as usual.

FWIW, I added two more sets to my soundcloud collection:

Herd on The Hill/Windshield's Hornpipe

Jane's Fancy/Just as the Tide Was Flowing

The most recent one is a Northumbrain Pipe classic I learnt from Alex Wade on this year's Folk Camp. It's tons of fun to play. The other one is somewhat unusual as a combo but I thougt it fits quite nicely.

Thanks for listening!

HI Rich -

thanks for the feedback!

Do you mean nothing happens when you click or you can not even see the tracks on my main page http://www.soundcloud.com/rac-13 ? Probably the former. It seems as if the new forum software does not automatically detect web links nor convert them, so by clicking into the string http://... nothing happens. I did convert them to links manually a minute ago, so now they should work in the last but one posting - please let me know if you can listen to them now! Thanks again and apologies for the mishap!

Thanks, that's it sorted now.

Interested to know how long you have been playing the Crane Duet?   How many keys does it have?

I am just starting out on an English 56 key extended treble.   Have a long, long journey ahead of me.

Keep the tunes rolling,  much appreciated.

  • Thanks 1
