Jim Besser Posted January 22, 2017 Posted January 22, 2017 It looks like I'll be touring the Cotswolds the last week in June and first week in July, playing for my Morris dance group. We expect to be dancing with English sides on the weekends; I'm looking for fun music events during the week in between, when we'll all be traveling on our own. Any ideas? Festivals, English sessions, workshops, etc? And are there any English sides that might want to connect with a rowdy bunch of boys from Washington DC?
Robin Harrison Posted January 22, 2017 Posted January 22, 2017 Get in touch with the guys who do the concertina evening in Yorkshire at the Royal in Dungworth.......Mark Davies used to be point man. If it worked out, you would have tons of fun. They are very welcoming ( but don't take a screw driver with you....they will explain !) Robin

Daniel Bradbury Posted January 24, 2017 Posted January 24, 2017 Hello Jim and Al, I should be in Norwich by then. It'd be a pleasure to join you there. Daniel
gcoover Posted January 24, 2017 Posted January 24, 2017 Jim, If you're in the Derbyshire area it will be the perfect time to check out the many well dressings in the various smaller towns and villages. Some of the most amazing art you'll ever see made with nothing more than flower petals and natural materials. Gary

Chris Timson Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 The English Country Music Weekend this year is in Abbots Bromley from 23rd to 25th June. An absolutely magnificent way to spend a weekend if you like playing English music in sessions. Read more here. Chris
Teriodin Posted February 7, 2017 Posted February 7, 2017 Morris and Concertina is very well received among UK 'SteamPunk' groups. (A sort of sci-fi Victoriana community. Lots of dressing up and weird technology but a very 19th century feel to a lot of it.) I'm sure if you turn up to an event in the Summer they'd ply you with tea and gin. *winks*
