48B English Just Sold On Ebay

Recommended Posts

Happy 2017 to all C.netters,

This Lachenal (?) has just been sold on ebay (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Old-Cocertina-LACHENAL-In-Wooden-Box-/152388426167?nma=true&si=n%252BcKsOx5KpzUEWst3CrTEVxzZnc%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557)

I would be interested to hear your views as to whether it really is a Lachenal.......or maybe an early Wheatstone or maybe something different altogether?

Best wishes,

Neil

Stephen,

You sound as if you might know much more in a few days?!

No, I wasn't suggesting I'd bought this one, I was merely expressing a note of caution in case evidence to the contrary came along.

But I do have an instrument with the same fretwork that is stamped J.SCATES internally, and numbered 44.

It would be interesting to hear if any C.net member has bought this instrument?

Maybe a red herring, but for me the most striking thing was that the grain on the box lid doesn't run parallel to the handle, which I've never noticed before. Can anybody make any more observations on box top grain direction?
