Patrick McMahon Posted November 6, 2016 Posted November 6, 2016 Is it how he's playing it, or is it Cajun tuned? Or am I imagining it? It's a Lachenal G/D that's on sale in Ebay England . But it certainly sounds cajun to me. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3HfzwfvMAKg&feature=youtu.be
David Barnert Posted November 6, 2016 Posted November 6, 2016 I don't hear anything unusual about the tuning. Are you perhaps being thrown by the fact that the 9th note (and the last note) is a flatted 7th, not found in a standard major scale (but common in jazz, blues and celtic modes)?
Patrick McMahon Posted November 6, 2016 Author Posted November 6, 2016 Thanks. I'm not much up on the technical side of different tunings, so it's all greek to me. I asked the seller if it was "cajun tuned" and he replied : "No just a Standard G/D. I'm using the F on the pull which probably sounds unusual. For your interest the tune is a Cajun waltz called 'Dreamers' Cheers" So you're right about the tuning. It's got 20 minutes to go on ebay. Sounds nice to me ! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/232129320236?euid=1ae611864a274f5482b7d509ac2902b2&bu=43024663004&cp=1&sojTags=bu=bu
