Stephen Chambers Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 Liam was trying out a Bb/F concertina in Ralf Schlimm's 7Mount workshop in Germany, and now has one himself. The two tunes are the jigs I Buried My Wife & Danced on Top of Her and Fraher's, tunes very much associated with Willie Clancy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YNTT7rp2hJI
Bruce McCaskey Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 I noted Liam's videos on the 7Mount concertina website (http://sevenmount.de/?page_id=225) recently, and also the YouTube posting of his OAIM concertina instructional video ( ). Impressive playing and a very nice sounding instrument.
Stephen Chambers Posted June 2, 2016 Author Posted June 2, 2016 Impressive playing and a very nice sounding instrument. The music is very much in Liam's genes, and his upbringing in Miltown Malbay. The 7Mounts are very responsive too, and great value for money. I'm starting to build some in conjunction with Ralf, which (with 45 years experience) is a lot easier than fixing some of the wrecked old ones that come my way...
Peter Laban Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 Total immersion in music and environment is one thing but Liam has his own sense of music and is capable of lovely subtle elegant music. I have a pic here, taken perhaps twelve years ago during one of many visits to Liam's family home, with Kitty Hayes, for a night of tunes, chat and oceans of tea.
John Moran Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 Hi Peter Thanks for posting the photograph. Kitty looks like she was enjoying the music. Keep well John
Takayuki YAGI Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 Thank you for sharing the photo and video clip. He is now during the Japan tour and I will take his workshop on Sunday afternoon. -- Taka
ceemonster Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 [[[. . . with Kitty Hayes, for a night of tunes, chat and oceans of tea.]]] If only there were more session opportunities in that vein. It sounds like heaven.
