Recommended Posts

I have at present at Lachenal 56 key tenor-treble on the bench.

I'm undertaking tuning of it to concert pitch right now.

This instrument is fully restored, including refinishing of ends in black French polish.

It is lovely and clean internally. Plays extremely well. Although a TT its about the same size as regular treble.

All the usual items have been restored too:

- new pads

- new valves

- new springs and action rebuild

- new thumbstraps

If there's any advanced interest ahead of it going on eBay then please PM me.

It's got the spindle cut fretwork - 6 sided like the more common treble.

Not Edeo or New Model - it's got a J.J.Vickers label inside and in the case - my guess it was possibly made to a price point by Lachenal for Vickers to supply to his students.

I'll try and sort some pics in the next day or so - I cant post here though since i've used up my allowance.

Steve

Tried to PM you but was greeted with a message saying you cannot receive any more messages (?full in box?)

How would you describe the tone of this instrument?

Loud and strong - potentially for band work

Soft and mellow - good for singing accompaniment?

I realise there is a degree of subjectivity in this.

I am guessing, hat this model may be more 'band era' than 'parlour era' if it has a Vickers label.

Many thanks, in advance

I'd say that it has a strong tone, not as bright as a metal ended as expected, but strong enough for band playing.

As a singer, I'd also say that I'd use it for song accompaniment too.
