Henk Van Aalten

Recommended Posts

It is with great sadness that I have to tell concertina.net that Henk van Aalten died on 8 March 2016 after a short illness. His funeral was today.

I attach two images from his funeral notice: the quote from Henk, just a week before he died, on the card says “I am in a thousand little things”, and his family pay tribute to his warmth, peace, love, caring, wisdom and creativity which will be sorely missed.

If you wish to share your own memories of Henk with his family you are invited to do so at the online remembrance book at http://www.uitvaartverzorgingkramer.nl/condoleanceregister/

I've just told Anne, we're both shocked. Henk was a lovely chap, we've stayed with him in the Netherlands and have kept in contact since. He recorded a version of the Arran Boat that I always play when checking out audio in the studio. I'll miss him.

That is really sad news. When visiting England, Henk's ferry landed at Harwich and he sometimes visited me as he drove on along the A12. I have one happy memory of sitting with them in the garden on a sunny summer day and playing music together. He was a charming, genuine man and will be greatly missed.

I am very sorry to hear this news.

Henk was very active on this site a few years back and we and others exchanged many tunes and stories. He joined a group of musicians and was very active entertaining and sadly we lost touch.A lovely guy a very nice concertina player and friend.

That's sad to hear. Henk's Recorded Tunes Links Page was a great resource for allowing us to hear each other back before youtube and soundcloud and such. It is still available with many of the links working and playable.

Henk's generous work on designing and maintaining the page was very appreciated. He is missed.
